Pip Count. This denotes the number of points needed to bear off. At the start of the game, each player receives a starting pip count of 167.
Point. The game of backgammon consists of twenty four points. This does not represent the score but refers to the triangles that stand for the spaces. But, it can likewise be utilized to determine the total number of points or victories the game costs.
Single Game. This is a term used to refer to a game after successfully bearing off their pieces first.
Gammon. This is used to refer to a won game by being the first player to remove all their pieces, when the other player has not yet started removing their own chips.
Backgammon. This refers to another won game. This is a situation in which a player removes all his pieces first when the other player has not yet started bearing off and the competitor has a blot on the bar.
Bear off. This is the ultimate aim in the game of backgammon. It is a term used to refer to the action of clearing backgammon pieces off the board.
Blot. This is used to refer to one backgammon chip that is prone to attacks by the other player.
Hit. This refers to an action made on the blot of the other player, which is then positioned on the center bar of the board.
Hit and Cover. This is a move that attacks not only the blot but also constantly advancing a similar chip, to be able to secure the blot that would have otherwise become prone to attacks by the opponent.
